Helping Businesses Become Dementia-Friendly Through Certification, Education, Training and Consultant Services
What is Dementia?
Dementia is a serious and progressive brain condition which affects over 5 million people in the US, with increasing numbers every day. Someone is diagnosed with dementia in the US every 65 seconds. World-wide, there are 46.8 million people living with dementia and someone is diagnosed with dementia every 3 seconds.
Dementia affects individuals in different ways, but people with dementia typically experience a decline in memory, thinking, behavior and coordination. They have difficulty in performing daily activities, sometimes even simple tasks.
It is our mission to foster dementia-friendly communities and businesses that are inclusive, safe, and promote quality of life for those affected by dementia.
Being Dementia Friendly
The environment in which individuals with dementia live can be either detrimental or favorable to their well-being. That’s why our company aims for churches, businesses, and facilities to learn about dementia and take action to provide a condition conducive to helping those living with this disease.
How We Can Help
Dementia-Friendly Communities and Dementia-Friendly Business programs are spreading around the world. They have been shown to be very effective in keeping those affected with dementia at home longer, with greater quality of life, health and safety. Caregivers of those with dementia have a difficult time shopping and going places--such as eating out, movies, church and other events-- so they will look for businesses that are dementia-friendly. Towards that end, we would like to work holistically with all sectors of business as well as the larger community.

What is a Dementia-Friendly Community?
A dementia-friendly community focuses on stigma reduction and the inclusion of people with dementia. People are educated about dementia and know that a person with dementia may sometimes experience the world differently. In a dementia-friendly community, people living with dementia feel supported by their community members whether they are at post offices, retail outlets, using transportation or enjoying hobbies out in the community.
